Former Confederate Army Surgeon, Andrew Jackson Borroum, founded the drugstore in 1865. It is now the oldest family-owned pharmacy in the State of Mississippi and boasts an authentic, fully operational, soda fountain. Here one can find Corinth’s local culinary delight, the Slugburger. The patty – a combination of pork, soy and secret spices - is deep fried and served on a hamburger bun with mustard, pickle and onion. Its moniker came from the beginning when the burger was sold for a nickel, also known as a slug. While the Slugburger is still the same, the price has gone up! The average cost of a Slugburger is $1.75. (Corinth even has a festival during the second week of July in honor of the Slugburger). Borroum’s is also a great place for a cherry coke or chocolate malt. A full menu is available for those not wanting to try a Slugburger. For history buffs, Borroum’s features a nice collection of Native-American arrowheads and spear points, Civil War artifacts, and historic photographs. Located at 604 East Waldron.
